GBTCC - The Tour to Australia
Game 1 /
Averages & Report
The second one day game of the Great Britain Transplant Cricket Club's UK Tour was mostly played in warm sunshine. The ground had been cut and the wicket rolled and once again our thanks to the ground staff at Percy Main Cricket Club for preparing such a magnificent arena for our second game.

Percy Main CC II v GBTCC
3rd June 2005 - 45 overs game.
Surprisingly we were asked to bat first for the second time which was a pity because in hindsight if the very strong Percy Main batting line up had made first use of the pitch, the game would have been a better contest. Still, it was up to us to post a big enough score so that the match might finish in a thrilling climax.

Credit where it is due, my III team skipper young Craig Downie bowled in form batsman Dave Parker second ball with a good one. My mate and golfing partner, as well as being PMCC Chairman Dave Archbold is still a fine line and length swing bowler and he bowled me a beauty which knocked my off stump out of the ground. (The Evening Chronicle photographer captured this and I will seek their permission to publish the pic)
Catastrophe loomed but Nigel Mills, again, and skipper Colin Mitchell turned things around and took us to 60 odd for 2. Unfortunately no one else apart from Mr Sundry could get into double figures and for the second day in a row we were at least 50 runs short of a competitive total.
Bowling:

| Richard McSherry | 7 | 0 | 20 | 4 |
| Chris Jeffries (Capt) | 2 | 0 | 6 | 1 |
We needed to take quick cheap wickets or wait for an almighty collapse to win this game. Sadly neither was to happen.

Bowling:
As you can see from the above report, the match was over with 14 overs still to be bowled. We offered to bowl out our full 45 overs so that some of the Percy Main lads could have a bat. After all they had taken a day off work to give us a game. This would not have been necessary if their captain had batted first after winning the toss!
Ken Moor went on to score 50 not out before retiring.
Dave Parker bowled another 4 overs 0 - 26 Umpire - Fred Godsen Man of the Match - Nigel Mills
