Five Nations Golf - 2008

The Five Nations Golf Tournament

Forest Pines Golf & Country Club
(Just off junction 4 of M180 North Lincs)

30th May - 1st June 2008

England is the host of the 2008 event and we are well under way to putting on a fantastic weekend for all golfers and non gofers whether transplanted or not.   The hotel complex and golf course are of the highest quality and whether golfing or not everyone is guaranteed a weekend to remember.

The course was designed by the late John Morgan and formed in 1996 and hosts many professional and corporate events.   There are 27 holes amongst the stunning pine forests boasting lush fairways and carpet like greens, some of which are protected by water.    We shall be playing The Forest and The Pines on both days.

Practice facilities are excellent and professional coaching will be available as part of the package on the Saturday morning from 11am as will  free range balls.

The three man organising committee is John Barnes, Keith Atherton and yours truly, Graham Marsh.    John Barnes who works with Tarleton Golf has used his professional expertise and connections to come up with a golfing package which is hard to beat and the prizes on offer during the two days of golf are well worth winning whether you are a transplanted golfer or not.

Format for Five Nations Golf weekend

bullet

All golfers must submit a current handicap certificate from their golf club or society dated April or May 2008 (preferably May) otherwise they may be asked to play off scratch.   The committee's decision is final.

The format below could change slightly at the discretion of the committee
We would welcome any feedback you may have.

There are some valuable prizes on offer and rather than submit to an auction in a bid to raise money for TSUK we are asking all golfers to contribute £10 each towards the prizes and sweeps on offer.   Believe me when I say it will be worth it.

bullet

Non payment (just in case) will mean that individual cannot win one of the 'Star Prizes'.

bullet

The Stableford scoring system, full handicap, will be used on both days.

bullet

Players are expected to pick up once they cannot score.

bullet

There will be an official starter and a timed  draw will have been made in advance.

bullet

Play will be from the yellow tees.   This is at the request of the course director owing to the variation in handicaps and the difficulty of the course from the white tees.

bullet

In an effort to keep things moving at all times the course will be marshalled and slow play will not be tolerated.   Players will be asked to speed up or give way.

Friday, practice day, will be an ‘Open competition’ in two divisions
 Including the ladies 0 - 36 hcp.
