Thursday 16th October 2008:
Game 3
ATCC v 14 Degrees
XI
One day fixture (45 overs) - Border Oval, Mosman, Sydney, NSW
14 Degrees won by 33 runs
Scorecard and report will follow
|
Paul Harvey from 14 Degrees has already filed a report with loads of pictures from this game and it is excellent. Take a look now.
|
My apologies if I have got some names and scores below wrong, but it all got a little hectic because the rules allowed for batsmen to return if scores under 5 etc. So 11 wickets were taken and the game was over before the stipulated 40 overs but continued anyway because we were having such a good time. |

Summary: The final game of the series at the Border Oval, Mosman (in my opinion) was a turning point for the Wombats. Once again they were up against superior opposition but they put up a magnificent performance with both bat and ball and racked up their highest score of the series against some class bowling. I know that the guys from 14 Degrees were very impressed with the standard and this will become a permanent fixture which will benefit both sides by way of charitable aims and generating awareness of the organ donor programme in Australia.
Paul Harvey is to be congratulated for his work with 14 Degrees and all of the players who took time out from their busy schedules to play in this fixture.
Outstanding performances with the bat from Phil Walker, Darren Van Der Hoff and the incomparable Chris Wills threatened the huge total put up by the 14 degrees team but in the end it was just to tough a target.
Lisa Sthalekar is a star and it was appreciated by all of the players that she gave up her time and interrupted her preparations for a busy summer of cricket ahead to play in the fixture and help crank up the aims of both the Australian transplant Cricket Club and 14 degrees. It must be said that she was very unlucky in having an LBW appeal turned down against me and I would have been proud to have lost my wicket to her in what may well be my last innings at the crease, to a Test Match bowler. As it is, that dubious honour goes to the leggie from Melbourne Pete MacCuspie who did me with a top spinner.............I think.
|
I will post all of the photographs very soon and will of course have a few words to say as to where we, the GBTCC, go from here and give an overview of the David Hookes Tribute Series.
|
Can someone get in touch with Phil Walker for me and ask his dad to resend the photographs please?
|
Thanks. |
